What feature(s) do you feel are missing?
What is the bounty you are willing to pay?

I am thinking an email this vague will yeild no real return.

hello james,
comsys.net has many big telecom providers buying their platform.
they are not cheap, but they know what they're doing.
what is your experience in voice messaging?
i'm looking for someone who has done this for someone else.
if you are starting from scratch...big learning curve....it is probably not
a good fit.

It seems you are not looking for "Asterisk Development" but someone
who will build out a platform using asterisk. You may have better
luck on the asterisk-business or asterisk-users list. Again you will
want to spec out what exactly you want and what you are willing to pay
for it. Currently this reads as, someone remake facebook for me and I
will pay you some random amount of money.

In review with peers it seems my metaphor may have overstepped and I
apologise.

My point was it seems this appears as some form of business venture rather
than resolving a direct deficit within asterisk.

Asterisk is an engine and many products are derived from it. The mentioned
service does not seem to offer anything asterisk cannot do. So getting
someone to build a similar solution with asterisk as the engine will be
more successful if you provide detailed desires and a more specific benefit
to the person you are trying to attract.

Specific compensation and a roadmap should be provided to get proper
qualified attention.

Hassan,

His response isn’t insulting, its just direct and to the point. Mr Carnegie would appreciate his thriftiness.

I guess James is just a little surprised that you are asking for something that requires no further development and is wondering if you are serious about this project as you don’t seem to have done even the most basic research. But if you want to write a check for $50k for the initial deposit, happy to help educate you on what Asterisk can do.

Possibly a better way to answer the question is, Yes Asterisk can do everything listed on the Comsys page, there is nothing that needs to be customized to deliver this solution. How many users would you like to market too and how much will you pay me per month to build you a system delivering these functions.

Or
if you would like to buy this outright rather than pay per user/per month an indicative project build cost is $250k which is comprised of
$180k – comprised of 3 engineers at $10k per engineer pm for 6 months build+handover
$30k – comprised of $5k pm for 4 servers for 6 months build + handover (with an additional server required for every 1k simultaneous users or 50k accounts)
$10k – initial scope time
$10k – UI design
$10k – QA
$10k – training your engineers for handover

20% required upfront, with monthly progress payments of 10% pm, with final payment of 20% required at handover.

Cheers,
Dean

Alright, sounds like the window of constructive answers has closed.

Hasan, I don't think any deliberate insult was intended in their
responses, but I do think that James and others are technically
correct. You're probably better looking for this level of custom
development on top of Asterisk as a telephony engine on the -biz list
or one of the other venues. Most of what you're going to need is not
core Asterisk changes but wrapper around the outside of it (IMHO).
The -dev list is more for discussing changes under the hood of
Asterisk, rather than building things on top of it.

If you're trying to do it yourself, you might look at the AGI, ARI,
and other Asterisk programming interfaces for how to do call control
programmatically. For more general Asterisk knowledge you might refer
to wiki.asterisk.org or the Asterisk book by O'Reilly.

Best wishes, and good luck with your efforts.

if you would like to buy this outright rather than pay per user/per month an indicative project build cost is $250k which is comprised of
$180k – comprised of 3 engineers at $10k per engineer pm for 6 months build+handover

Dean

Subject: Re: [asterisk-dev] Voice Messaging Platform
james finstrom,
i find your response insulting.
i suggest you pick up a copy of how to win friends and influence people or some similar title.
It seems you are not looking for "Asterisk Development" but someone
who will build out a platform using asterisk. You may have better
luck on the asterisk-business or asterisk-users list. Again you will
want to spec out what exactly you want and what you are willing to pay
for it. Currently this reads as, someone remake facebook for me and I
will pay you some random amount of money.

hello james,
comsys.net has many big telecom providers buying their platform.
they are not cheap, but they know what they're doing.
what is your experience in voice messaging?
i'm looking for someone who has done this for someone else.
if you are starting from scratch...big learning curve....it is probably not a good fit.

What feature(s) do you feel are missing?
What is the bounty you are willing to pay?
I am thinking an email this vague will yeild no real return.
